COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (September 22, 2023) – USA Basketball announced today it will host the FIBA 3x3 Colorado Challenger, as a part of the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Men’s World Tour, on Oct. 7 and 8 at Reid Arena on the campus of Colorado College in Colorado Springs.
The field will feature 16 professional 3x3 men’s teams from the FIBA 3x3 Pro Circuit, the network of FIBA-endorsed 3x3 teams and tournaments. Participating teams had several pathways into the 3x3 Colorado Challenger, including automatic allocation based on FIBA 3x3 ranking points, wildcard berth from the host or qualification from a feeder FIBA 3x3 event. Teams from the United States and from around the world will be represented.
The top three finishers from the 3x3 Colorado Challenger earn a bid into the Abu Dhabi Masters, Oct. 28 and 29, the highest-level event on the FIBA 3x3 Men’s World Tour. Additionally, teams will compete for a share of $50,000 in prize money.
The event is free and open to the public with the qualifying draw and pool play games on Saturday, Oct. 7. Bracket play is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 8. The FIBA 3x3 Colorado Challenger can be streamed at YouTube.com/FIBA3x3.

Different than 5-on-5, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams “clear” the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
