The USA beat Canada 65-53 on Saturday night to advance to the final at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile.
With the win, the USA women move to 8-1 against Canada and 41-9 all time at the AmeriCup.
The USA will face the winner of Brazil vs. Argentina in the final tomorrow at 8:10 p.m. ET.
Postgame Notes
For Starters: USA called on Raegan Beers, Madison Booker, Mikayla Blakes, Joyce Edwards, and Olivia Miles to start Saturday’s game. Edwards has started every game for the USA, while Booker and Blakes each made their fifth starts.
Pushing Through Adversity: The USA trailed at halftime for the first time this competition (33-31), but finished the game on a 21-7 run to come from behind and take the hard-fought victory. The U.S. allowed just 5 points in the fourth quarter and only 2 points in the final five minutes of play.

Hidalgo is now averaging 11.8 points throughout the tournament (tied for most on U.S.), while totaling a competition-best 20 steals (3.3 spg).
Defense to Offense: The USA dominated the steals category, 17-9, with five Americans recording multiple steals in the victory. The red, white and blue’s tenacious defense led to 20 points off turnovers and 29 fastbreak points. Leading the competition with 110 total steals, the U.S. is averaging 18.3 steals per game (no other team averaging 10+ spg).
From the Charity Stripe: In a physical game, the USA converted 16-20 (80%) from the free-throw line, marking their most accurate performance from the stripe through the tournament thus far.
Block Party: Kennedy Smith blocked 3 shots as the team combined for 10 in total, setting a single-game USA record at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup.
On to the Finals: The USA will be making their 7th AmeriCup Final appearance and will be playing for their 5th gold medal at the event. The USA has won two of the last three competitions (2021 & 2019), taking home silver at the event’s most recent iteration in 2023.
