The USA laid claim to the top seed in group A at the 2023 FIBA Women’s U16 Americas Championship with a 123-27 victory over Mexico on Thursday at Poliforum Zamná in Mérida, Mexico.
The U.S. scored with ease and the 96-point win marked the team's largest win of the competition so far.
Sitting at 3-0, the U.S. advance to the quarterfinals to face Dominican Republic on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

TEAM NOTES
Tale of the Turnovers: The Americans won the turnover battle against Mexico. The U.S. gave the ball away 18 times while forcing 40 turnovers from their opponent. The team finished with 48 points off those Mexico miscues.
First Half Frenzy: The U.S. scored 71 points in the first half. Tonight was the team's first time scoring over 70 points in a half since scoring 74 points in the U16 Americas Championship semifinal against Mexico in 2021.
Hot Shot: The U.S. shot 50.5% (54-107 FG) from the floor and 60.0% (9-15 FT) from the line. Mexico shot 18.4% (9-49 FG) from the field and 58.3% (7-12 FT) from the line.
PLAYER NOTES
Cheers to You Ms. Robinson: Jerzy Robinson paced the U.S. through the first half and finished with 13 points. The U.S. wing finished with 17 points and has scored in double figures in all three group play games. She leads all players at the tournament in scoring, averaging 16.7 points per game.
WOWliczko: Last game, Robinson became the first U.S. player to record a double-double at the tournament. Tonight, McKenna Woliczko followed with a double-double of her own. Woliczko finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds in the game.
It Takes All 12: It was another collective effort for the USA. Of the 11 players who played, six scored in double figures. Leading the way was Robinson (17 points) and Jayla Jackson (17), followed by Hailee Swain (15), Aaliyah Crump (15), Kelsi Andrews (12) and Woliczko (12).
