ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia (Sept. 6, 2026) – Team Miami won their third FIBA 3x3 Challenger in 2026 after earning top prize in the 3x3 Sansar Challenger. The squad rolled to five straight victories en route to the title, winning each game by multiple possessions.
Team Miami, featuring Riley Battin, Henry Caruso, Jackson Trapp and tournament MVP James Parrott, entered the challenger as the two-seed. This exact group returned from a third-place finish in Debrecen and a title-winning performance in Birmingham. Caruso and Parrott also featured on the championship squad from the Zadar Challenger in May.
Miami faced Amsterdam (NED) in the final and led nearly wire-to-wire. After scoring the first basket of the game, Amsterdam equalized at 1-1. Caruso nailed a double to give the squad a 3-1 lead, and they never looked back. Amsterdam kept them from reaching the target score of 21 but an 18-14 win didn’t draw any complaints from Team Miami.
In the semifinals, the hurdle they fell at in Debrecen, where Lausanne (SUI) awaited. While it was close early on, a 5-0 run by Team Miami ballooned the lead from 8-6 to 13-6 and propelled them to a 21-14 win. Caruso was the star with nine points in the win.
Knockout began with Hangzhou (CHN) in the quarterfinals. The quartet from China took Miami the distance but the squad of Americans emerged victorious with a 19-14 win. Battin led all scorers with six points.
Team Miami cruised through pool play with a 21-12 win over Zavkhan (MGL) and a 21-13 win against Marijampole (LTU). Scoring was fairly evenly distributed in the first two with Parrott scoring 15, Battin adding 13, Caruso putting up nine and Trapp with seven.
