ZADAR, Croatia (May 16, 2026) – Team Miami earned their best finish of the young 3x3 FIBA World Tour season, taking the title in Zadar, Croatia, on Saturday evening, with a thrilling 21-19 win over Amsterdam.
The delayed start and move indoors for the tournament’s second day didn’t seem to bother the eventual champs as they notched three victories behind the leadership of MVP James Parrott, who averaged 6.8 points and 1.0 blocks per game through five wins.
As expected in a final between familiar foes, Miami and Amsterdam (NED) put on a show in each team’s first final of the year. The first four minutes were back and forth the game tied at 8 with nearly four minutes elapsed. From there, Amsterdam took control and eventually held a 16-10 lead after Miami’s seventh foul with 3:57 to play.
Miami’s “not so fast” attitude helped them regain momentum as they tied the game at 16 with a sequence of a Parrott free throw, back-to-back 2s from Dylan Travis and a Travis-assisted layup from Parrott. Mitch Hahn put the cherry on top of the 8-0 Miami run with a 2-pointer of his own.
The game was tied at 19 when Miami won the challenge of an out of bounds call with 36.9 remaining. A hard de Jong foul on Henry Caruso put the latter at the line where he converted the second of two to give Miami the 20-19 edge. On the ensuing Amsterdam possession, Hahn made a tremendous steal and got the ball to Travis who passed it to Caruso in the paint for the squad’s 21st point.
Earlier Saturday, Team Miami took the halfcourt started out hot with a 20-19 quarterfinal win over Shanghai (CHN). Parrott led the team for a third consecutive game with seven points, matched by Hahn also with seven.
A contest with Toronto (CAN) awaited Team Miami in the semifinal. The back-and-forth game saw the teams knotted at 13 before Miami took off, kickstarted by a Parrott finish at the rim. Hahn and Caruso hit back-to-back 2-pointers to lift Miami’s advantage to 19-15. Parrott converted up-and-under through traffic for the final bucket, to get the unit to a 21-16 win.
The tournament opened Friday with a pair of Pool B wins over Fuengirola (ESP) 22-10 and Vienna (AUT) 22-19.
Team Miami will resume 3x3 World Tour play June 12-14 in Vienna, Austria.
