Kaohsiung City, Taiwan (Oct. 5, 2025) – Coming off a first-place finish at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Shanghai, Team Miami fell just short in the semifinals of the Kaohsiung Challenger on Sunday in Taiwan.
After cruising past Barcelona 21-5 in the quarterfinals, Team Miami dropped a 22-17 decision to Taipei in the semifinals. Taipei opened a 4-2 lead with 8:44 remaining to break the early deadlock and never looked back. Miami—featuring Henry Caruso, Mitch Hahn, Dylan Travis and Andrew Kelly—trimmed the deficit to one with 7:03 left, but Taipei missed just one shot all game, finishing 12-of-12 from 1-point range and 4-of-5 from deep.
Caruso led Miami with seven points in the semifinal loss.
In the quarterfinals, Miami were firing on all cylinders, rolling to a 21-5 win over Barcelona (Spain), holding Barcelona to 3-of-7 shooting from 1-point range and 0-of-5 from two-point range. Miami used its physical advantage to dominate in the paint, shooting 13-of-15 from 1-point range and grabbing five offensive rebounds. Caruso paced the team with nine points, while Hahn, Travis and Kelly added four apiece.
Team Miami opened pool play against Kanazawa (Japan), falling 21-18 despite leading 14-13 with 3:53 left. Kanazawa closed the game on a 4-0 run to take the win. Kelly had one of his best games on the circuit, scoring nine points on 7-of-8 shooting, while Travis added six points.
Needing a win to advance, Miami faced Polebrady (Czechia) in its final pool play matchup. Travis’ clutch two-point shot with one second left lifted the Americans to a thrilling 21-20 victory and a spot in the quarterfinals. Miami jumped out to a 7-2 lead midway through the game before Polebrady answered with a 7-1 run to go ahead 9-8. The contest, which featured seven ties, was tight until the end. With seven seconds left in the game and Miami trailing 20-19, Kelly grabbed an offensive rebound off a Hahn miss, kicked it out to Travis, whose fadeaway two-pointer from the left wing sealed the win.
Travis averaged a team-high 6.5 points per game for the weekend, while Kelly added 5.0 points per game.
Team Miami return to action next weekend at the Dongguan Challenger in China, where they’ll look to qualify for the Bucharest Masters (Nov. 8-9).
