MIAMI (Aug. 18, 2025) – USA Basketball announced today that Andrew Andrews has joined the 2025 USA Men’s AmeriCup Team ahead of the 2025 FIBA Men’s AmeriCup, which is set for Aug. 22-31 in Managua, Nicaragua.
Andrews, who has been practicing with the USA AmeriCup squad at training camp in Miami, most recently played for Wolves Twinsbet in Lithuania. Since graduating the University of Washington in 2016, Andrews has played internationally in Turkey, Latvia, Israel and Greece in addition to various stops in the NBA G League. He will make his USA Basketball competitive debut in Managua.
2022 FIBA AmeriCup bronze medalist Elijah Pemberton, who was previously named to the team, signed an international contract and is no longer available for the AmeriCup.
The USA squad, coached by Stephen Silas, opened training camp last Tuesday and will travel to Nicaragua later this week before tipping off Group A play vs. Bahamas on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 5:40 p.m. ET. Among their other Group A matchups, the USA will take on Uruguay on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 11:10 p.m. ET and Brazil on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 9:10 p.m. ET.
The 2025 FIBA Men’s AmeriCup will stream live on Courtside 1891. With an account, USA Basketball’s games will be free to watch in the United States.
The inaugural FIBA Men’s AmeriCup was held in 1980 and has been held biennially since 1993. The USA has won gold seven times and earned bronze in 2022.
The FIBA Men’s AmeriCup features 12 teams distributed into three, four-team groups. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-place teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.
