COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Aug. 8, 2025) – USA Basketball today announced the 12-man roster and coaching staff for the 2025 FIBA Men’s AmeriCup, which will take place Aug. 22-31, 2025, in Managua, Nicaragua.
The 12 athletes slated to compete for USA Basketball have professional experience in the NBA, NBA G League and internationally, with eight players having prior USA Basketball experience.
The roster includes Zach Auguste, Robert Baker II, Tyler Cavanaugh, Jack Cooley, Jarell Eddie, Langston Galloway, Jerian Grant, Elijah Pemberton, Jahmi’us Ramsey, Cam Reynolds, Javonte Smart and Speedy Smith.
Baker II, Ramsey and Smart all participated in the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers, with Ramsey playing in all six games through three windows of play. Smart is also a gold medalist with the 2016 USA U16 Men’s National Team and 2017 USA U17 Men’s National Team.
Cavanaugh, Galloway, Pemberton and Reynolds have appeared for the USA in past World Cup Qualifying windows, with Galloway suiting up in all six windows/12 games throughout the 2021-23 qualifying cycle. Pemberton was also a member of the 2022 USA Men’s AmeriCup Team that earned a bronze medal in Recife, Brazil. Reynolds was a member of the 2021 USA Men’s Select Team, which trained with the USA Men’s National Team ahead of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
Auguste, Cooley, Eddie, Grant and Smith will be making their USA Basketball debuts.
Former NBA head coach Stephen Silas will serve as head coach and will be assisted by NBA veteran assistant coaches Brad Jones and Patrick Mutombo. Both Jones and Mutombo have experience as NBA G League head coaches as well as on multiple NBA coaching staffs. Jones previously served as a court coach for USA Basketball prior to the 2011 Pan American Games. Mahmoud Abdelfattah will serve as an assistant coach/scout. Silas and Abdelfattah were part of the USA AmeriCup Qualifying staff for the final two qualifying windows heading into this year’s competition, leading the USA to a 4-0 record.
The USA will hold training camp Aug. 12-18 in Miami, before traveling to Managua to open the tournament against Bahamas on Aug. 23 at 5:40 p.m. ET. The USA will also face Uruguay (Aug. 24, 11:10 p.m. ET) and Brazil (Aug. 26, 9:10 p.m. ET) in pool play. The 2025 FIBA Men’s AmeriCup will stream live on Courtside 1891. With an account, USA games will be free to viewers in the United States.
The inaugural FIBA Men’s AmeriCup was held in 1980 and has been held biennially since 1993. The USA has won gold seven times and earned bronze in 2022.
The FIBA Men’s AmeriCup features 12 teams distributed into three, four-team groups. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-place teams, will advance to the quarterfinals. The eight advancing teams will be ranked 1-8 based on their final position in the Group Phase.
