The USA (6-0) took an 85-59 victory over Canada (5-1) in the 2025 FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup Final in Irapuato, Mexico, to earn their eighth gold medal at the event – the most of any country.
Following the victory, the USA moved to 7-0 against Canada and 48-1 all time in FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup play.
In the bronze medal game, Mexico defeated Colombia 51-43.

Golden Debuts: Tonight’s victory gives Jazman Bailey, Caroline Bradley, Reece Gilpatrick, Tatianna Griffin, Jordyn Haywood, Olivia Jones, Eve Long, Micah Ojo, Morghan Reckley, Arianna Robinson and Nation Williams their first gold medal representing USA Basketball. Additionally, the win marks head coach Steve Gomez’s first gold medal as head coach at a FIBA event (he has been an assistant for two gold medal winning teams previously). Ivanna Wilson Manyacka is the lone player earning her second gold medal with USA Basketball after being a member of the Women’s U17 National Team that earned gold at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup.
Individual Awards: Wilson Manyacka was named the MVP of the 2025 FIBA U16 Women’s a USA Basketball junior national team AmeriCup after scoring a competition-best 108 points (18.0 points per game) over six games, while Long and Wilson Manyacka were named as members of the All-Star Five.
Leading Scorers: Ojo led the USA with 18 points (5-6 FG, 1-1 3FG, 7-10 FT) to go along with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Wilson Manyacka added a double-double with 14 points (6-15 FG, 2-5 3FG), a team-high 11 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 steals.
Stellar Defense: The USA held Canada to just 29.0% (18-62) shooting from the floor and 33.3% (4-12) from 3-point range. Canada’s 59 points marked their lowest offensive output of the competition, as Reckley and Ojo posted a team-high 4 steals apiece and Wilson Manyacka a team-high 4 blocks in the win.
Dropping Dimes: With 23 assists tonight, the USA set a competition record with 166 total assists at the event, surpassing their previous high of 159 team assists in 2019. Ojo and Jones led the way for the Americans with 5 assists apiece in Sunday's final, while Reckley posted a team-best 26 assists (4.3 assists per game) throughout the competition.
