The United States fell to Turkey 84-70 at the U19 Men’s World Cup Sunday afternoon in Debrecen, Hungary. The U.S. finished the biennial tournament with a 5-2 record and a fourth-place finish.
The U.S was led by Dylan Harper who notched 15 points, 12 of which came in the fourth quarter. Tobe Awaka led the U.S. on the boards with 13.

TEAM NOTES
Worth noting: Sunday’s game was the first-ever between these two countries at the U19 Men’s World Cup.
Starting Out: The U.S. used its sixth starting lineup in seven games with Eric Dailey Jr., Ian Jackson, Dylan Harper, Tobe Awaka and Asa Newell. It was the first start of the tournament for Jackson.
Team Highs*: The U.S. ended the tournament leading the field in several statistical categories. The Americans tallied to two highest point total of the tournament (136 vs. Madagascar; 122 vs. Lebanon), and notched the highest single-game field goal percentage of the tournament (58.6 vs. Madagascar). Additionally, the U.S. held three of the top ten most efficient games (No. 1 vs. Madagascar; No. 3 vs. Lebanon; No. 6 vs. Japan)

PLAYER NOTES
Talkin’ Tobe: Awaka continued his dominance on the boards, leading the U.S. on Sunday with 13 rebounds. For the tournament, the Tennessee Volunteer led all players in rebounds (74, 10.6 rpg) and double-doubles (four). Awaka averaged 11.6 ppg and 10.6 rpg in just 20 minutes of average playing time per game.
High Scorer Harper: For the first time this tournament, Harper led the team in points scored with 15 versus Turkey. It was also his top scoring performance of the tournament (14 vs. France).
Newell Shines: Newell was the USA’s top performer by efficiency—scoring 11 points, grabbing six boards and collecting three blocks. With 16 blocks during the tournament Newell finished third in blocks per game (2.3).
