The United States topped China 92-69 on Wednesday afternoon in Debrecen, Hungary, to secure its spot in the quarterfinals at the 2023 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup.
After a rest day on Thursday, the United States will take on either Japan or Hungary in Friday’s quarterfinal round. The time for that game has yet to be announced. All games are streamed on FIBA's YouTube channel.
The United States has won the competition eight times, including three of the last four competitions (2015, 2019 and 2021).

TEAM NOTES
Worth Noting: The U.S. moves to 7-0 all-time versus China at the U19 Men’s World Cup. With the USA’s 19th straight win, the Americans are now 109-14 all-time at the competition.
Starting Out: For the fourth straight game, the United States used a different starting lineup. Kylan Boswell, Cody Williams, Eric Dailey Jr., Tobe Awaka and Tre Johnson started on Wednesday afternoon.
Winning Down Low: The U.S. won the battle of the boards for the fourth time this tournament, topping the Chinese 55-49. Wednesday’s game was the third of the tournament that saw the U.S. with 54+ rebounds. The USA also led in second chance points, 27-12, and points in the paint, 46-38.
It’s a Four Quarter Game: The U.S. has won each of the fourth quarters it has played during the tournament, beating the Chinese 23-10 on Wednesday. The USA’ has outscored the opposition by an average of 15 points in the fourth quarter .
PLAYER NOTES
Awaka Does it Again: Awaka notched his second double-double of the tournament, (Slovenia – 14 points/11 rebounds) with 15 points and 14 rebounds. The Tennessee Volunteer scored 10 of his 15 points in the USA’s 17-0 second half run that blew open the game. It’s the third U.S. double-double of the tournament (Ven-Allen Lubin’s 11 points and 11 rebounds vs. Slovenia).
Strong from the Stripe: Mark Armstrong was a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe, as the U.S shot an impressive 30-for-35 (.860).
Dual Double Digits: With 11 and 10 points versus China, respectively, Johnson and Dailey Jr. are the only two U.S. players to score in double-figures in each of the team’s first four games.
