The USA won its fourth-straight gold medal at the FIBA Women's U16 Americas Championship after defeating Canada in the gold medal game, 79-59, on Monday at Poliforum Zamná in Mérida, Mexico.
The Americans, who have won 24-straight games at the competition, are now 42-1 all-time and own seven gold medals.

TEAM NOTES
Neighbors to the North: The U.S. and Canada have matched up in the gold-medal game the past four tournaments and six times total. The only times the U.S. and Canada have met at the event have been in the championship game. Outside of the USA, Canada is the only other team to medal at each FIBA Women's U16 Americas Championship.
Queens of the Glass Table: The red, white and blue finished with 55 rebounds against Canada. The team grabbed 402 rebounds (67.0 rpg) through the tournament to break the U.S. U16 team record at the event. The previous record of total rebounds was 379 (2019), while the highest average was 64.4 rpg (2011).
Hot Shot: The U.S. shot 43.1% (31-72 FG) from the floor and 82.4% (14-17 FT) from the line. Canada shot 33.3% (20-60 FG) from the field and 73.9% (17-23 FT) from the line. The Americans led all teams in field goal percentage (47.4%) and free throw percentage (70.2%) at the tournament.
PLAYER NOTES
MVP Jerzy: Jerzy Robinson finished with 24 points (10-19 FG, 4-5 FT) and 14 rebounds. She led the event in scoring total and average (104 points, 17.3 ppg) and now ranks third in the U.S. record book in those categories. She is the youngest player (14) to win MVP at the U16 Americas Championship.
Kenna Get a Board?: McKenna Woliczko tallied 14 points, nine rebounds, one assist and three steals. Robinson (10.2 rpg) and Woliczko (9.7 rpg) both averaged nine-or-more rebounds a game to become the first American teammates to average over nine rebounds in competition history. Wolickzko, along with Robinson, was recognized to the tournament All-Star Five.
Life in the Fast Lane: Lanie Grant finished with 11 points (3-6 3FG, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Tonight was her second-straight game with 10-plus points.
