The USA claimed their second victory of the 2023 FIBA Women’s U16 Americas Championship with a 93-29 victory over Colombia on Wednesday at Poliforum Zamná in Mérida, Mexico.
The U.S. held a 47-25 lead at halftime and through tenacious defense, held Colombia to just four second half points.
Improving to 2-0, the U.S. sit atop Group A with one group phase game remaining.

TEAM NOTES
Rebound Rewards: The USA had a significant advantage on the glass. Of their 78 total rebounds, 32 were offensive, which saw the U.S. put up an impressive 26 second-chance points. In the USA's opener against Puerto Rico, they pulled down 73 rebounds.
Free Throw Fun: With a lopsided rebounding battle, the U.S. saw their time at the free throw line increase. With additional possessions via 32 offensive rebounds, the U.S. was fouled more often around the rim. In the end, the Americans shot 19-of-22 from the charity stripe, up from their opening game (15-25 FT).
Hot Shot: The U.S. shot 38.5% (35-91 FG) from the floor and 86.4% (19-22 FT) from the line. Colombia shot 19.0% (12-63 FG) from the field and 30.0% (3-10 FT) from the line.
PLAYER NOTES
Broken Record: Lauren Betts' 16 rebounds against Chile at the 2019 FIBA Women's U16 Americas Championship is longer a USA U16 single-game record. Tonight, Jerzy Robinson snagged 21 boards in 26 minutes to shatter the mark. She also recorded the first double-double for a U.S. athlete at the competition by finishing with 12 points.
It Takes All 12: It was another collective effort for the USA. Of the 10 players who played, five scored in double figures. Leading the way was Darriana Alexander (17 points), followed by Hailee Swain (14), Jacy Abii (13), Trinity Jones (12) and Robinson (12).
Reserve Receipts: Last night Jones had 19 points in 13 minutes off the bench. Her encore performance tonight saw her lead all reserves with 12 points in 18 minutes to go with eight rebound and two blocks.
