Several FIBA and USA Basketball Women's World Cup records, including the most points scored in a game, were broken in the USA's 145-69 victory over Korea at the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup in Sydney.
The U.S., which is qualified for the quarterfinals, broke their record for largest margin of victory (119-44 vs. Angola on 9/30/14).
The U.S. is riding a six-game win streak against Korea, including scoring at least 100 points in three of their last four. The USA is 6-2 against Korea all-time at the World Cup.

TEAM NOTES
The One Where the USA Made History: With 145 points scored over Korea, the U.S. set a FIBA World Cup record. The previous record was 143 points set by Brazil in 1990. The U.S.'s previous scoring records was 119, which was done on two occasions (vs. Angola on 9/30/14; vs. China 9/12/06).
The scoring mark came via 62-of-94 shooting by the USA. The 62 shots made surpassed the U.S.'s previous record of 47 (vs. Korea on 6/2/94).
The Americans set their single-game assists record (36) too. The previous USA best was 32 (vs. Angola on 9/30/14; vs. South Korea 6/2/94).
Additionally, the USA has won 26 straight games at the Women's World Cup, matching the nation's longest winning streak at the competition. The previous streak of 26 occurred 1994-2006 while the current streak began in 2006.
We Were on a Break!: The USA scored above their average for fastbreak points tonight. Entering the game, the U.S. averaged 21.7 fastbreak points per game with Americans scoring 23, including 15 in the first half, against Korea. The success in transition came via defensive pressure, which resulted in 20 Korean turnovers.

Oh! My! God!: The U.S. had eight players score in double figures, including two 20-plus point scorers in Brionna Jones (game-high 24) and A'ja Wilson (20). Joining the front-court duo were Kelsey Plum (19), Breanna Stewart (18), Shakira Austin (16), Betnijah Laney (13), Kahleah Copper (11) and Alyssa Thomas (10).
Could She Be Any More MVP?: Less than six minutes in, Wilson scored her ninth and 10th points of the game on a layup. The reigning two-time WNBA MVP started 8-for-8 for the game to finish with 20 points (10-11 FG) and eight rebounds in 15 minutes.
The last time an American made 6-plus field goals without a miss was Nneka Oguwumike (vs. Senegal, 9/22/18) when she went 6-of-6 en route to 16 points.
I'll Be There for You: The U.S. outrebounded Korea 56-20. The USA had four players pull down at least eight boards, including Austin (8), Jones (8), Thomas (8) and Wilson (8). Thomas and Wilson have at least rebounds in back-to-back games.
