BATAM, Indonesia (July 26, 2026) – After an unbeaten run through the group stage and a convincing quarterfinal victory, Team Miami’s run at the FIBA 3x3 Batam Challenger in came to an end in the semifinals. The group finished third in the event held in Indonesia.
Team Miami put together one of their hottest pool play runs yet of the 2026 pro circuit, conceding just 13 points through two matchups on Saturday. In their first game, after home team Balige (INA) was down four points after four minutes of action, the Miami quartet sped out on a 12-1 run to secure a dominant 21-6 win. Riley Battin was a force on the low block, going 4-for-5 on for a game-high eight points, while Mitch Hahn affirmed his stretch-center profile, hitting from the perimeter and from inside, adding seven points. James Parrott riled up the unit with four blocks and two dunks to keep Miami energized throughout.
A couple hours later, Team Miami needed just seven of the ten allotted minutes to decisively take care of Liberec (CZN) with a 21-7 win. The outing was an even-spread, full-team effort from Miami — after Hahn hit an early 2-pointer to put Miami in front, 3-1, Miami never trailed again. Parrott once again showed off his full athletic arsenal, making plays all around the rim, while the group was very efficient overall with a 10-for-12 mark from 1-point range and only one turnover in the contest.
Onto Sunday morning’s bracket play action as the top seed out of Group B, Miami kept its dominance rolling into the quarterfinals. Parrott and Hahn combined for a 2-point barrage to open their matchup with Ulaanbaatar (MNG), and stayed in front the entire game en route to a 21-14 win. With under two minutes remaining, Ulaanbaatar went on a 5-1 run to pull to within three points, but Miami tightened up defensively and was able to control the remaining minutes. Parrott’s nine points and Henry Caruso's seven boards led Miami in the seven-point margin.
A clash with Antwerp (GER) awaited Miami in the tournament semifinals, where Battin willed Miami through a favorable first half of play, dropping eight of Miami’s 12 points to start. The group battled against Antwerp’s pesky on-ball defense early. Parrott cooked up a pick-and-roll over-the-top lob to Caruso and Battin finished at the rim through traffic to build a 12-9 lead with 4:04 left to play.
A handful of uncharacteristic Team Miami turnovers kept Antwerp within a stone’s throw through seven minutes of play, then three quick points, including a huge 2-pointer, courtesy of Jonas Foerts — who finished with 10 points — swung the game in the other direction for Antwerp. The Belgian team connected on five straight points to open up a gap, and while Miami did produce a number of quality looks, its shooting came up nearly empty in the closing minutes. Team Miami fell short in the 21-14 loss.
Miami will have a quick turnaround to be back in action on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour stop in Athens, Greece next weekend from July 31-August 1. The same four will represent Miami, as they’ll enter the tournament as the second overall seed.
