The USA (7-0) triumphed in the gold medal game at the 2026 FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup with a 107-81 victory over Serbia (5-2) in Istanbul. Following the win, the USA moved to 5-0 against Serbia and 58-0 all-time in FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup play.
The USA have now won all eight FIBA U17 Men’s World Cups dating back to 2010, with tonight’s win marking the first time the stars and stripes have faced Serbia in the final.

POSTGAME NOTES
Golden: The USA’s 26-point win marked their sixth gold medal victory of 25 points or more. Across their eight U17 golds, the U.S. have won their final games by an average of 29.1 points, with their largest winning margin coming in 2018, with a 95-52 win over France.
Tournament Honors: Following his play in Istanbul, Joaquim Boumjte Boumtje was named as the tournament's Most Valuable Player, finishing the competition with team-high averages of 19.6 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks, while also averaging 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals per contest. Boumtje Boumtje shot an efficient 59.8% (49-82 FG) from the field, 53.1% (17-32 3FG) from 3 and 88.0% (22-25 FT) from the charity stripe across the U.S. run to gold.
Along with Boumtje Boumtje, the USA saw Beckham Black named to the All-Star Five. Black finished the World Cup with averages of 12.3 points and a team-best 8.3 assists and 3.0 steals, while adding 1.6 rebounds per game. Black’s 58 total assists for the tournament rank second in U.S. history at the event behind Quinn Cook’s 59 total assists across eight games in 2010.
On Fire: CJ Rosser led the scoring for USA with 23 points (6-12 FG, 2-7 3FG, 9-12 FT), while Boumtje Boumtje added a double-double of 20 points (6-14 FG, 2-5 3FG, 6-7 FT) and a team-high 15 rebounds in Sunday’s win. Black also notched a double-double with 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3FG) and 10 assists.
Record Breakers: To add to their list of records set at the 2026 FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup, the red, white and blue set multiple new competition highs on Sunday. After previously surpassing the U.S. record of 64 made 3s, the stars and stripes hit 12 more 3-pointers tonight to finish the competition with 77 makes from downtown, the most by any team at the event (previous record – 73, China, 2024).
Boumtje Boumtje also added to his historical tournament by finishing with 76 total rebounds across seven games, surpassing the previous U.S. record of 70 total boards which was held by both Justise Winslow (2010) and Cooper Flagg (2022).

All About the Hardware: Six Americans (Black, Mason Collins, Erick Dampier Jr., Jordan Page, Rosser & AJ Williams) earned their second gold medals tonight after taking gold at the 2025 FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup last summer. Boumtje Boumtje, NaVorro Bowman Jr., JJ Crawford, Cayden Daughtry, Asa Montgomery and Xavier Young are all first-time medalists.
