COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (April 16, 2026) – USA Basketball announced today that 10 athletes will participate in a 3x3 development camp April 17-19 in Phoenix. Participants will be considered for future USA 3x3 national team and other 3x3 team opportunities.
USA Basketball 3x3 development camps are an opportunity for athletes to hone their skills in a competitive and educational environment. The camp features under-23 men’s athletes, three of whom have previous USA Basketball experience.
The men’s participants include Hank Alvey, Mark Armstrong, Finley Bizjack, Gavin Cote, Boden Kapke, CJ Gunn, Christian Hammond, Kevair Kennedy, Pace Prosser and Nasir Whitlock.
Bizjack and Kapke boast prior USA 3x3 experience. The two were teammates on the squad that won the 2024 FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas Conference in Mexico City before appearing on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour last year as members of Team Phoenix.
Armstrong is a USA Basketball gold medalist at the 2022 FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup. He also represented the U.S. at the 2023 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup, finishing fourth.
The remaining seven athletes will participate with USA Basketball for the first time in Phoenix.
Camp will be led by Jimmy Smith, who has coached with USA Basketball since 2023 and led the U.S. to a silver medal at the 2024 FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup. The assistant men’s coach at Stephen F. Austin State University, Smith most recently served as head coach of USA Basketball’s Team DC 3x3 in 2025. Ras Vanderloo (Sioux City East H.S., IA) has been involved in USA Basketball 3x3 since 2025 serving as court coach prior to the FIBA U23 Nations League and has coached with the USA Men’s Junior National Team dating back to 2019. Brian Merritt, who served as an assistant coach at Bryant University last season, and Tavaras Hardy, who previously was head coach at Loyola University (MD), will make their USA Basketball court coach debuts this week.
Different than 5-on-5, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams “clear” the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
