The USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team won their fourth game in five days at the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup with a 140-67 decision over Jordan in the Round of 16 on Wednesday in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Next, the Americans have a quarterfinals matchup against continental rival Canada on July 4.
Postgame Notes
Hyper Beam: En route to setting the U.S. record for total points in a U19 game, the USA saw scoring in bunches up and down the roster. Each member of the team scored and eight finished with double-digit point totals. Double figure scorers include Morez Johnson Jr. (19), Tyran Stokes (19), Daniel Jacobsen (15), Caleb Holt (13), Brandon McCoy (13), Koa Peat (13), Jordan Smith Jr. (13) and Nik Khamenia (10). The previous U.S. record for points in a U19 game was 136, a product of the squad at the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup vs. Madagascar in Hungary.
Barrage: The USA reserves had a key impact against Jordan. The Americans had 85 bench points, led by Stokes’ 19. Stokes recorded the USA's first-ever U19 triple-double by adding 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals. Other bench contributors included Jacobsen (15 points, 5 rebounds) and McCoy (13 points, 7 assists, 4 steals), among others. The U.S. is averaging 57.5 bench points per game.
Growl: Before tonight, the U.S. and Jordan faced once before in U19 competition. In 1995, the Americans handed Jordan a 61-51 loss in Greece. Notable names on that USA squad were Vince Carter and Stephon Marbury while Kelvin Sampson was the head coach.
Leech Seed: The U.S. has capitalized on their opponents’ miscues all tournament and today was no different by scoring 56 points off 37 Jordan turnovers. The previous USA high for points off turnovers was 36, which occurred in the game vs. Cameroon yesterday (23 vs. Australia; 19 vs. France).
Double Team: Today is the first time the U.S. has outscored their opponent by at least 10 points in each quarter. The Americans scored 32+ points in each frame tonight, capping out at 39 in the third quarter. Through four games, the USA has outscored their opposition by 10-or-more points in a quarter nine times.
Quick Attack: The Americans wasted little time today, scoring at least 40 fast break points for the second consecutive game. Against Jordan, the U.S. had 55 points within the first 8 seconds of the shot clock. In the contest vs. Cameroon, the USA had 41 fast break points.
