The USA moved to 2-0 with an 80-43 win over Colombia (0-2) on Sunday night at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile.
With the win, the USA women move to 3-0 against Colombia and 37-9 all time at the AmeriCup.
Postgame Notes
Starting Out: Raegan Beers, Joyce Edwards, Gianna Kneepkens, Olivia Miles and Kennedy Smith started the game for the USA. Edwards was the only returning starter from Saturday’s win vs. Chile.
Leading the Charge: Mikayla Blakes was the USA’s leading scorer with 15 points (4-10 FG, 3-8 3FG, 4-5 FT) off the bench, with Edwards and Miles also contributing 13 and 11, respectively.
Run and Done: The USA closed the first quarter on a 12-0 run to break the game open and take a 25-10 lead to the quarter break. In the first five minutes of the second period, the Americans outscored Colombia 12-2, eventually taking a 29-point lead into the intermission. Edwards and Blakes led the USA in the first half with 11 points apiece.
Crash Course: The USA outrebounded the Colombians 68-32, led by Beers who notched 10 boards. With their rebounding superiority, the USA earned 40 points in the paint and 27 second-chance points. Six players contributed 5+ rebounds for the U.S.
Miles Ahead: Miles led the team with a 20 efficiency rating, behind 11 points, 8 rebounds and a team-high 8 assists for a near triple-double. Miles leads the USA with 15 assists through two games at the competition.
