The USA (6-0) defeated Canada (5-1) 108-71 in the 2025 FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup Final in Juarez, Mexico, to earn their ninth gold medal at the event – the most of any country.
Following the win, the U.S. moved to 8-0 against Canada and an unblemished 49-0 all time in FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup play.
In the bronze medal game, Venezuela defeated Puerto Rico 84-76.
Postgame Notes
First Rodeo: Tonight’s victory gives Nasir Anderson, Beckham Black, Mason Collins, Erick Dampier Jr., Colton Hiller, Bentley Lusakueno, Kameron Mercer, Jordan Page, CJ Rosser, Shalen Sheppard, Marcus Spears Jr., and AJ Williams their first gold medal representing a USA Basketball junior national team. Additionally, the win marks head coach Scott Fitch’s first gold medal squad at a FIBA event (he has been an assistant for four gold medal winning teams previously).
Award Season: Anderson was named the MVP of the 2025 FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup, while Anderson and Spears Jr. were named as members of the All-Star Five.
Starting Out: The USA started the game with Black, Dampier Jr., Page, Rosser and Spears Jr. The five started in all six games en route to the gold medal win, combining for 56 points in the Final.
Leading Scorer: Rosser paced the U.S. on offense, finishing with 16 points (5-11 FG, 2-3 3FG, 4-4 FT) along with 10 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block for his second double-double of the competition.
Making a Mark: With a 37-point margin of victory tonight, the U.S. won all six games at the U16 competition by at least 37 points, with four games decided by 55+ points and two games won by 70+ points. The USA’s total point margin was a whopping +352 at the event.
Record Dimes: Anderson (7 assists tonight, 41 total assists) and Black (10 assists tonight, 39 total assists) both finished the competition surpassing Rob Dillingham’s 2021 record of the most total assists (37) by a U.S. player in a FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup.
