The USA (4-0) defeated Brazil (0-4) 129-50 in the 2025 FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup quarterfinals in Juarez, Mexico.
Following the win, the U.S. moved to 4-0 against Brazil and 47-0 all time in FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup play.
The USA now move onto semifinal play on June 7 to take on the winner of Puerto Rico vs. Argentina.
Postgame Notes
Starting Out: For the fourth consecutive game, the USA started with Beckham Black, Erick Dampier Jr., Jordan Page, CJ Rosser and Marcus Spears Jr.
Semifinal Bound: For the ninth time, the USA has advanced to the U16 semifinals. The Americans will now look to advance to the gold medal game for the ninth time as well; their eight finals appearances are the most of any country at the competition.
Record-Breaking Pace: The USA’s 129 points today is the most in a single game by a team at the 2025 competition. Additionally, the American’s have scored 120-or-more points three times this tournament (123 vs. Mexico on 6/2; 124 vs. Argentina on 6/4). The all-time high of 138 points was set by the U.S. against Chile on Aug. 21, 2021.
Opening Surge: Continuing their pattern of success to open games, the USA got out to a 19-4 lead over the first 5:14 of the contest, holding Brazil to a 1-for-9 start from the field. The Americans would close the first quarter holding a 38-13 lead.
Nasir Time: Nasir Anderson led the USA with 19 points (9-10 FG, 1-1 FT) and 10 assists to go along with 3 rebounds and 5 steals in an impressive two-way effort. Anderson has dished out at least 5 assists in every game, while his 22 total assists lead the team.
Frenetic Defense: The Americans created havoc on defense, winning the turnover battle 33-13, while scoring 49 points off turnovers. Black led the way on the defensive end with 6 steals. Anderson and Kameron Mercer also made their presence felt with 5 steals apiece.
