The USA (2-0) defeated Dominican Republic (1-1) by a score of 111-54 in their second game of the 2025 FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup in Juarez, Mexico.
Following the win, the USA moved to 5-0 against Dominican Republic and 45-0 all time in FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup play.
The USA will finish out Group A competition against Argentina on June 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET before the quarterfinals begin on June 6.
Postgame Notes
Starting Out: The USA started the game with Beckham Black, Erick Dampier Jr., Jordan Page, CJ Rosser and Marcus Spears Jr.
Opening Run: The red, white and blue began the game on a dominant 13-3 run, holding Dominican Republic to just 1-for-8 from the floor to start the contest. The USA would eventually extend the lead to 32-8 to end the first quarter.
All-Around Rosser: Rosser filled up the stat sheet, finishing with a game-high 17 points (7-12 FG, 1-1 3FG) to go along with 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks. His performance marked his second consecutive game with multiple steals and blocks to open the competition.
Dominating Inside: The USA finished the game with 72 points in the paint on an efficient 66.7% (36-54) clip, while holding Dominican Republic to just 31.7% (13-41) from inside.
Creating Havoc: The U.S. defense excelled at making things difficult on offense for Dominican Republic, forcing 32 opponent turnovers and generating 40 points off turnovers. Eight different players recorded at least 1 steal in the contest, with Nasir Anderson leading the Americans with 5 steals.
Dropping Dimes: Black finished with a game-high 10 assists for the USA. With his total, he became the first U.S. player to record double-digit assists in the competition since Jaylen Curry did so on Aug. 27, 2021, against Mexico.
