ABU DHABI (Oct. 27, 2024) – Roughly one month after their most recent 3x3 circuit stop in Hamburg, Germany, Team Miami secured second place with several thrilling victories at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Oct. 27.
Today’s marks the third straight title game appearance in a FIBA 3x3 circuit for Dylan Travis, James Parrott, Mitch Hahn and Trey Bardsley.
After winning four bouts, Miami squared off against Amsterdam (Netherlands) in the tournament’s final contest. For the first five minutes, the score seesawed up until Amsterdam drilled two straight 2-pointers to flip the score in their favor and snatch a 12-9 lead. Miami would claw back to make it 13-12, but Amsterdam had already established momentum. Their quartet ended the game on an 8-2 run to secure the 21-14 win.
In the defeat, Bardsley finished with six points and two boards, Parrott added four points and five rebounds and Travis scored a pair of 2-pointers for four points.
Pitted against Vienna (Austria) in the semifinals, Miami pulled off an improbable victory in the waning minutes to clinch a spot in the final. Luckily for the Americans, they could lean on Hahn, their 6-foot-8 big man, to execute beyond the arc.
Vienna jumped out to an 8-3 edge within the first three minutes of action, but Bardsley, Parrott and Travis rattled off a bevy of inside and outside looks to bring it to 12-11 by the 5:11-minute mark.
In the blink of an eye, the Austrian’s 2-point capabilities pushed Vienna ahead 19-15, and it appeared as if the deficit would be too much to overcome. Hahn, however, had other plans.
In 70 seconds of game time, he rattled off three consecutive 2-pointers to muster six unanswered points and secure the 21-19 victory. Hahn spearheaded scoring duties with nine points, Travis notched five, Bardsley added four and Parrott corralled five boards.
Additionally, Miami earned a 21-20 quarterfinal victory in a neck-and-neck clash vs. Ub (Serbia) kickstart knockout action in the quarterfinals after winning a pair of pool play games on Saturday.
