COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Oct. 10, 2024) – USA Basketball announced today the USA Basketball Gaming Showdown which takes place Oct. 26-27. The two-day virtual event is the first online gaming tournament hosted by USA Basketball.
“We are excited to host the first USA Basketball Gaming Showdown to continue to grow the E-National Team and gaming community,” said Jim Tooley, USA Basketball CEO. “This is a great opportunity for USA Basketball and players across the country as we continue our investment in the gaming space.”
The Gaming Showdown will see teams take part in single elimination bracket play with a $3,500 prize pool. The team who wins receives $2,500, while the second-place finisher receives a $1,000 award. Throughout the tournament, teams will also be entered for USA Basketball gear giveaways, copies of the NBA 2K25 game and eligible for activation opportunities with the 2024 E-National Team including invites to scrimmage against the team at a future practice.
The game tournament will be played on the NBA 2K25 Pro-Am game mode.
The field is open to all 5v5 teams who wish to compete and players can stream their games throughout the competition. Teams will be soft-ranked using historical pro-am player data (where available), with all matchups and seedings randomly selected.
