COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Aug. 20, 2024) - USA Basketball announced today the rosters for the 2024 USA 3x3 U18 National Teams, which will compete at the 2024 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup in Debrecen, Hungary, from Aug. 26-30, 2024. Each national team is comprised of four athletes representing the high school graduating classes of 2024, 2025 and 2026.
The 2024 USA 3x3 Women’s U18 National Team includes Jasmine Davidson, Saniyah Hall, Arianna Roberson and Sarah Strong.
Strong is a two-time reigning gold medalist in this event. In 2024, Strong already won a gold medal at the FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup in June and was named to the USA Nike Hoop Summit roster.
Roberson also won gold with the U18 squad earlier this summer and participated in the 2024 Nike Hoop Summit. Additionally, Roberson attended the 2023 USA 3x3 U17 Women's National Team trials in Memphis during the 2023 NCAA College Basketball Academy.
Davidson is another member of the 2024 gold-medal-winning U18 group. She has participated in previous 3x3 and 5-on-5 trials and minicamps dating back to 2022.
Hall participated in USA Basketball 5-on-5 junior national team trials ahead of the 2024 FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup and 2023 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup. She will make her USA Basketball competitive debut in Hungary after most recently competing at the 2024 USA Basketball Club Championships last month.
The American women will compete for a sixth consecutive 3x3 U18 title and eighth overall (2023, 2022, 2021, 2019, 2017, 2013, 2012).
The 2024 USA 3x3 Men’s U18 National Team includes Kingston Flemings, Amir Jenkins, Nikolas Khamenia and Bo Ogden.
Khamenia earned a gold medal with the 2024 USA Men's U18 National Team at the FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup.
Flemings has attended several USA Basketball Junior National Team camps and will make his 3x3 debut alongside Jenkins and Ogden, who are first time USA Basketball participants.
The USA men return to the 3x3 U18 stage after missing the competition last year. The United States own a pair of U18 gold medals in 2021 and 2019.
Todd Monsey will serve as the head coach of the 2024 3x3 U18 national teams, marking his first USA Basketball head coaching assignment after serving as an assistant at this event in both 2022 and 2023. Kelly Carruthers, who coached the 2023 3x3 U18 women’s squad, will assist Monsey with both teams.
The USA men will open Pool A play on Monday, Aug. 26 vs. Egypt at 9:10 a.m. ET and Spain at 10:35 a.m. ET. Pool play concludes Wednesday, Aug. 28 with Brazil at 7:20 a.m. ET and Morocco at 9:35 a.m. ET.
The USA women will begin Pool D competition on Tuesday, Aug. 27 vs. Egypt and Latvia at 6:30 a.m. ET and 8:45 a.m. ET, respectively. Pool play wraps up Thursday, Aug. 29 vs. New Zealand at 6:55 a.m. ET and Poland at 8:45 a.m. ET.
Following pool play, the top two teams from each of the four five-team pools will move on to the quarterfinals.
Different than five-on-five, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams “clear” the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basketball, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-pointer field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
