COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (June 15, 2023) – USA Basketball announced today the athletes who will compete for USA Basketball on the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series, the 3x3 women’s professional circuit. The teams, USA and USA U24, will compete at select 3x3 Women’s Series events this summer with the goal of ultimately qualifying for the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Final Sept. 16-17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The athletes, chosen by the USA Basketball 3x3 Women’s National Team Committee, have a combination of USA Basketball (5-on-5 and 3x3), professional and collegiate experience.
The USA roster includes Cierra Burdick, Blake Dietrick, Linnae Harper, Alexis Peterson, Breanna Richardson and Camille Zimmerman.
Members of USA U24 are Cameron Brink, Lexi Donarski, Madison Scott, Celeste Taylor, Alyssa Ustby, Hailey Van Lith, Kayla Wells and Maddy Westbeld.
Brink, Burdick, Harper and Van Lith recently won the gold medal at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup earlier this month.
In 2022, Zimmerman was on the USA Women’s 3x3 AmeriCup Team that won the bronze medal. Taylor, Ustby, Wells and Westbeld were on the USA 3x3 U23 Nations League Team. Burdick and Van Lith were on the 3x3 Women’s National Team that competed at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup.
Including the 2022 USA Women’s Series athletes (Burdick, Harper, Richardson, Wells), Dietrick, Peterson, Van Lith and Zimmerman have FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series experience.
Additionally, Burdick, Harper, Peterson, Scott and Wells have participated at USA Basketball 3X Nationals.
Donarski will be making her USA Basketball 3x3 debut.
Damon Huffman will serve as head coach for USA, while Tammi Reiss will be at the helm for USA U24.
For the third consecutive year, fourth overall, USA Basketball has assembled at least one Women’s Series team (2019, 2021, 2022).
Different than 5-on-5, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams “clear” the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
Based on availability, members of the 2023 USA Basketball Women’s Series teams will train in Miami Lakes, Florida, June 17-19. Media interested in covering training camp may apply for credentials by emailing communications@usabasketball.com.
