COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (June 4, 2023) – USA Basketball announced today the 2023 USA Women’s U16 National Team roster following 10 days of trials in Colorado Springs. The team will compete at the 2023 FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship June 13-19 in Merida, Mexico.
The roster was selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Developmental National Team Committee and represents the graduating classes of 2025 and 2026. Athletes eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens, born on or after January 1, 2007.
The 2023 USA Women’s U16 National Team includes Jacy Abii, Darriana Alexander, Kelsi Andrews, Addison Bjorn, Aaliyah Crump, Lanie Grant, Jayla Jackson, Trinity Jones, Lola Lampley, Jerzy Robinson, Hailee Swain and McKenna Woliczko.
Dan Rolfes (Incarnate Word Academy) will serve as the USA’s head coach along with assistants Bobbi Morgan (Ursinus College) and Trenia Tillis-Hoard (Tyler Junior College).
The 2023 FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship features eight teams from the FIBA Americas zone with the top four teams advancing to the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in Mexico. The U.S. drew Group A with Colombia, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The Americans tip off competition against Puerto Rico on June 13, followed by Colombia on June 14 and Mexico on June 15. The quarterfinals will take place June 17 with the semifinals and final set for June 18 and 19, respectively. The competition will stream live on YouTube.com/FIBA.
