Instruction to be led by multiple Bay Area standout coaches
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (April 13, 2023) – The USA Basketball Coach Academy is set to take place on May 6-7 at St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco.
The USA Basketball Coach Academy, presented by Nike, provides valuable insight and education to coaches and administrators of the game. Academy sessions share the USA Basketball curriculum to impart a proper skill development path while teaching the game to players of all ages and ability levels. Additionally, guest speakers focus on areas of expertise to present on basketball X’s and O’s and coaching leadership topics applied both on and off the court.
The presenters are highlighted by coaches at all levels of the game, including several with Bay Area and USA Basketball ties.

- Jerod Haase, men’s basketball coach, Stanford University
- Dave Bollwinkel, NBA scout, Chicago Bulls (Sunday session only)
- Kelly Sopak, girls’ basketball coach, Carondelet High School
- Frank Allocco Jr., boys’ basketball coach, Clayton Valley Charter High School
- Lou Richie, boys’ basketball coach, Bishop O’Dowd High School
- Dave Rebibo, boys’ basketball coach, Harvard-Westlake School
Check-in is from 8:30-9:00 a.m. on May 6 (all times are Pacific), and the academy will be held from 9:15 a.m.-5 p.m. On May 7, academy sessions take place from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Coaches may register for Saturday’s clinic sessions for $95 or sign up for the weekend pass for $215. The cost includes on and off the court presentations, Nike/USA Basketball long sleeve t-shirt and coaching notebook, a catered lunch, a USA Basketball memorabilia display and networking time with speakers and attendees. Coaches who register for the weekend pass may attend the Sunday bonus session, which features a more personalized learning experience with practice planning, film work, roundtable discussions and a Q&A session with Showalter and Bollwinkel.
