COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – This year, USA Basketball will conduct eight Gold Camps in four cities for rising 7th, 8th and 9th grade boys and girls.
Gold Camps are advanced-level basketball camps that feature skill instruction led by experienced USA Basketball licensed coaches following curriculum set by 10-time USA Basketball gold medal winning coach Don Showalter.
Applications are now open for all camps. Eligible athletes must have been enrolled in 6th, 7th or 8th grade as of October 1, 2022, and cannot be older than 16. For more information on the 2023 Gold Camps, including application instructions, visit www.usab.com/goldcamps.
The first pair of Gold Camps are set for Memorial Day weekend at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School in Atlanta. Girls’ camp will be May 27-28 with the boy’s session to follow on May 28-29.
The second set of Gold Camps occur in Houston on June 16-17 (boys) and June 17-18 (girls) at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory.
The program then heads to Pittsburgh for two extended Gold Camps on August 10-11 (girls) and August 12-13 (boys) at Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh.
The final stop is over Labor Day weekend in Omaha, Nebraska, with the boys from Sept. 2-3 and the girls Sept. 3-4 at the Omaha Sports Academy.
Gold Camps, which debuted in 2019, focus on fundamental skill development through station work, group drills and competition and leadership sessions centered around the USA Basketball culture. The camps are designed for athletes that demonstrate skills in line with the advanced level of the USA Basketball Player Development Model.
Participants train and receive coaching to improve their skills, game play and character on and off the court. Gold Camps are a place for young basketball players to get better by competing with and against top talent from across the country. USA Basketball representatives will attend camps to evaluate the development level of all participants for potential future involvement.
Athletes interested in attending a Gold Camp must submit an application proving their advanced-level skills mastery, accolades and a letter of recommendation. If selected, the cost to register for Atlanta, Houston and Omaha is $185. Registration includes one meal and Nike/USA Basketball jersey, shorts and backpack.
The Pittsburgh Gold Camp is $265 per camper and includes more court time, three meals, extra USA Basketball gear, a player report card and a guest off-court presentation.
USA Basketball staff will review all submitted applications and reply to each submission. Applications will be approved on a rolling basis through the deadline or as capacity permits.
