Bucharest, Romania -- The United States opened the 2022 FIBA 3x3 U23 Women’s World Cup with a pair of wins on Wednesday in Bucharest, Romania. The U.S. beat the Dominican Republic, 21-1, before defeating Uzbekistan, 22-5.
Lexie Hull led the way for the U.S. in the opening game against the Dominican Republic, with a team-high 13 points and six boards.
In its 22-5 win over Uzbekistan, Hull led the U.S. in scoring with nine points, and Emily Engstler pulled down a team-high five rebounds. As the second day of pool play continues, the USA-Uzbekistan game is the fastest of the tournament as the Americans hit 22 points in just 7:43.
All four Americans tallied points and rebounds in both games, with Veronica Burton and N’dea Jones contributing four points apiece in the Uzbekistan contest.
The United States will continue pool play games on Friday, Oct. 7 versus Japan at 4:45 a.m. ET and Mongolia at 8 a.m. ET before the knockout round on Sunday, Oct. 9. Games are streaming live on www.youtube.com/FIBA3x3.
